Uralla Nature Reserve

45 hectares of native bush located approx 2km to the South of the Princes Highway on the old Thorpdale Road at edge of the township (turn off at the hotel corner and follow "Uralla Reserve" directional sign).

This property is owned by the "Trust for Nature" to preserve the local native Flora and Fauna of this area. The park has approx 3.5km of walking trails together with car parking and picnic facilities (no toilets). There is an abundance of native birdlife (in excess of 45 recorded species) particularly a large lyrebird population. Also, there are many sightings of wombats, wallabies, echidnas and koala's. Recently discovered was a unique colony of the previously thought extinct district species of millipede.

The reserve comprises "moist and riparian forest zones" with some 125 indigenous species of plant life recorded, including an excellent display of native orchids and moss species when in season.

Future Recreation Projects:
The Trafalgar recreation Precinct Masterplan
was adopted by the Baw Baw Shire Council in
April 2009. This is the culmination of 5
years' work by the Trafalgar community and
Baw Baw Shire. This process commenced with
the development of a strategic plan by the
community in 2004
